Delete Microsoft Office Registry Keys

Problem:  

Re-installing Microsoft Office may fail because of stale or leftover registry values.

Solution:  

Locate and delete old Office registry keys.

Steps:

1. Open Regedit with Administrative privileges.
   
2. Locate Office registry keys:  HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\.
   
3. Delete keys with caution  Export keys to a file before making changes. 

Consider removing user profile data as well:

Win 8:    

     %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office

     %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

     %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote

     %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Visio
