Synology DSM 5.2 SMB

The new Synology DSM 5.2 finally works well with SMB3.  

My throughput test transfers a single 20GB VHD from the Synology to my Windows 10 workstations at crazy-fast speeds –nearly 5GB per minute!  N.B., I have not tested throughput using multiple small files.  Even so, these results are impressive:  

File transfer from Synology 5.2 DSM to Win 10 SSD via SMB 3.0.

Equipment:

• Synology RS814 Server with standard WD Red disk array.
• DSM 5.2 with SMB 3.0 enabled on share.
• Windows 10 workstation with SSD. 
• 1000-T Juniper switch.
